NUR 530 Financial Management of Nursing Systems
This course will focus on concepts related to financial management of patient care delivery with a focus on acute care and population health delivery mechanisms. Topics include budgeting (forecasting, operating, and capital budgets, impact of staffing on budgets, and budgeting for population health initiatives), analysis of the financial impact of clinical decisions, nurse leader’s role in advocacy for resource support of clinical initiatives, and the impact to the operational environment when the financial environment changes. Students will integrate knowledge with practice through interviews and observations of financial and clinical leaders.
