NUR 060 Nursing Care of the family

Four credit hours Concepts related to child-rearing and child-bearing families are presented within the framework of the nursing process. Focuses on family systems, growth and development, and major health alterations in children and adolescents. Emphasis is on the practical nursing role with the family experiencing pregnancy, delivery, and neonatal care. Health teaching for family wellness and prevention are emphasized. Clinical client and family focused scenarios are incorporated into didactic and inter-professional communication, critical thinking skills, prioritization of care, competencies and delivery of care are practiced in the simulation laboratory. (30 hours class and 90 hours clinical) Prerequisites: HLSC 030, HLSC 040, and HLSC 041.
