NUR 051 Essentials of Practical Nursing

Three credit hours Concepts related to health needs and nursing care across the lifespan are presented in the framework of the nursing process. Health promotion, restoration and maintenance of essential physiologic function are discussed. Focuses on essential therapeutic nursing interventions to clients, with emphasis on the aging adult and rehabilitation care. Students practice competencies and nursing procedures in the simulation laboratory setting prior to clinical application in the clinical setting. (15 hours class and 15 hours simulation lab, 45 hours clinical) Prerequisites: HLSC 030, HLSC 040, and HLSC 041.
