Global Learning Certificate

The Global Learning Certificate (GLC) provides Jacksonville University students with the opportunity to globalize any major through the successful completion of the GLC. Developed in support of Jacksonville University’s commitment to innovative experiential student-centered learning, the GLC program provides students with the opportunity to increase global insight and understanding beyond the required core curriculum. The certificate includes one three credit global experiential learning class, one three credit global learning class selected from the approved list (below), and one three credit foreign language class beyond the student’s required core Global Studies class.

Certificate Requirements:

Nine credit hours are required.

 

 

 Credits

Completion of one Global Experiential Learning Class
from the following options:

  • Faculty Led Study Abroad Course
  • Freshman Experience Abroad
  • Summer or Semester Abroad
  • International Internship

Completion of one Global Learning Class:

  • One global learning class selected from the 
    list below. The class may be applied to the
    student's major or minor. The class may not
    count towards the core curriculum.

Completion of one Foreign Language class beyond
the student's required core Global Studies class:

  • BA students take one class beyond the 202
    level.
  • Non-BA students take one class beyond the
    102 level.

Other requirements:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 in all classes used for the certificate
  • Students who are eligible for the Global Learning Certificate must apply for it no later than their final semester before graduation.
  • Non-JU students are not permitted to complete the certificate.
