MUS 144 Acoustics and Recording Techniques I
Students learn the fundamentals of sound, acoustics and critical listening and how they relate to recording music. Students gain skills in multitrack recording, live and in the studio, microphone selection and placement techniques, overdubbing and mixing using Pro Tools DAW software. Students learn basic MIDI sequencing using virtual instruments and combine them with acoustic instruments to produce finished compositions. Lab work will constitute field work in performances spaces conducting live performances including but not limited to Terry Concert Hall, Swisher Theater, the Black Box Theater, and the Strom Amphitheater. A grade of C or better is required in this course in order to advance.
