ENGL 304WI Argumentation and Debate

Intensive study in the practice and methods of argumentation and effective persuasion, both in writing and in oral presentation. Students will be able to recognize logical fallacies, understand the limits of factual evidence and logic, understand the importance of establishing common ground and good will, and understand Aristotle's Rhetoric, including the role of ethos, pathos, and logos. The course will include skills important to legal and courtroom presentation.
