Master of Science in Public Policy/Master of Science in Organized Leadership

The Jacksonville University Public Policy Institute (Institute), in cooperation with the Davis College of Business & Technology, offers a Master in Public Policy (MPP) and Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) dual degree program.

The traditional MPP degree program is a 48-credit hour program. The traditional MSOL degree program is a 30-credit hour program. By participating in the MPP-MSOL dual degree program, students receive both an MPP degree and an MSOL degree in 57 credits, reducing both the cost and time required to complete the two degrees.

All MPP-MSOL dual degree students are subject to the academic standards of the MPP and MSOL Program, including maintaining an academic GPA of at least 3.0 ("B") during enrollment in the program, and violations will be handled consistent with the academic standards of each program.

The MPP coursework constitutes 36 credit hours, including an internship (three credit hours) and a Capstone policy project (six credits). The MPP internship requirement must be met before the start of the second year of the dual degree program and can be met through: an MPP internship, qualifying clerkship, professional experience, or on written request and upon written approval by the JU PPI Director, substitution of an approved PPOL elective. The MPP program will recognize twelve (12) transfer credits from the MSOL program, for a total of 48 credits. Transferable credits include ACCT 509 Essentials of Accounting (3); ECON Essentials of Economics (3); FIN 509 Essentials of Finance (3); DSIM 509 Essentials of Quantitative Methods (3); and DSIM 518 Competing through Innovation, Analytics & Information Technology (3).

The MSOL program consists of 21 credit hours. There is no internship or Capstone requirement in the MSOL program. The MSOL program will recognize nine (9) transfer credits from the MPP program, for a total of 30 MSOL credits. Transferable credits include PPOL 501 Microeconomics for Public Policy (3); PPOL 502 Public Finance (3); PPOL 511 Political Institutions, Processes, and Public Policy (3); PPOL 512 Ethics and Public Policy (3); PPOL 513 Law and Public Policy (3); PPOL 521 Statistics and Research Methods in Public Policy (3); and PPOL 541 Public Policy Analysis and Evaluation (3).
