Master of Science Degree in Medical Sciences

Admission Criteria

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university

• GPA greater than or equal to 2.7/4.0. Students with a minimum GPA of 2.5 will be considered if cumulative science courses are equal to or >2.7 GPA

• MCAT or GRE recommended, but not required

• Letters of recommendation upon request

• Personal statement upon request

Pre-requisite course requirements:

  • General biology I & II (with labs)
  • General Chemistry I & II (with labs)
  • Organic Chemistry I & II (with labs)
  • Physics I & II (with labs)
  • Mathematics- 6 credit hours
  • Behavioral and Social Sciences- 6 credit hours
  • English- 3 credit hours

 

Graduation Requirements

MSMS students must pass a pass/fail comprehensive qualifying exam based upon the required coursework. To be eligible for the comprehensive exam a student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 with no more than 6 credit hours of C grades. Any course in which a failing grade is earned (F) must be repeated and replaced with grades of B or better. Students may have up to 2 times to pass the exam before remediation is required.  Grade of “P” (Pass) or “NP” (No Pass) applies to the Comprehensive Qualifying Examination.
