EDU 406 Socio-Cultural Bases for Education
This course will provide a survey of the theories,principles, research and best practices associatedwith language acquisition, as related to theteaching and learning of English as asecond language. Students will be providedwith pertinent information in the areas of appliedlinguistics and cross-cultural communication.Linguistic theories will be applied to ESOLmethods, curriculum and assessment. In addition, legislative and policy issues, including theFlorida Consent Decree, will be discussed.
