PSYC 413 Psychology of Religion

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the scientific study of religion, particularly from a psychological perspective. Students will learn how to identify and create operational definitions of religion and spirituality. They will also learn about and critique the ways psychologists (e.g., social, developmental, cognitive, evolutionary) have studied religion and spirituality over the past several decades, and they will also be able to identify the conclusions that can (and cannot) be drawn from the results of those studies.
