IS 363 Ecotourism in Ecuador
This course introduces students to the history, concepts, principles, marketing, planning and management of ecotourism activities and development, which promote cultural and environmental awareness and local economic benefits. The geographic focus will be on the places and people of Ecuador. This course will explore the forces and processes of social change in communities given the rise of nature based travel. We will consider the processes of how communities involved in service sector enterprises relate to the general concepts of sustainability, including environmental, social and economic impacts. This course explores the concept of sustainability/ sustainable development, with an emphasis on community-based sustainable development.
