Master of Science in Kinesiological Sciences Admission

Admission to the MSKS cohort is competitive and admits a fall cohort annually. Admission requirements include:

1. Undergraduate Transcripts: An official transcript, indicating graduation from a regionally accredited college or university in this country or a recognized university abroad, is required.

2. GPA of 3.0 is preferred

3. GRE is recommended, if the GPA is not a 3.0

4. 2 letters of reference are preferred.

5. One-page statement is required. The statement must address the following:

Why pursue a Masters level Kinesiology degree?
Why would you like to pursue a Masters degree in Kinesiology at JU?
What are your immediate and long-term professional goals?

6. Students with an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Movement Science are preferred. Applicants who have not majored in Kinesiology or related fields will be expected to have kinesiological, exercise science, movement science-related experience or enroll in anatomy and physiology/exercise physiology-related courses the summer prior to beginning the program or concurrently during their first semester.

 

Admission to the KIN MSKS program as a 4 +1 student requires a 3.0 GPA, the same GPA as those entering the accelerated 1 year program and the traditional two year program. All 4 +1 students must apply by the end of their junior year, if he or she has not declared the 4+1 option as an incoming freshman.

1. If accepted, the student must enroll in 5 of the cross-listed (UG/G) courses during senior year

2. In the fifth year students must enroll in graduate level courses Students in the 4 + 1 will receive a maximum of 15 credits applied toward the graduate program, which means that increased rigor of course content of 15 undergraduate credits will be applied toward graduate study, i.e., a more rigorous version of the same content area will be engaged by the student at the senior level.

 

At the conclusion of the fifth year students will receive their B.S. and M.S. in Kinesiology.
