The course incorporates historical perspectives on the evolution of jazz theory and harmony. Examples in the form of musical models based on these perspectives are placed into exercises for the development of aural skills and technical facility. Basic harmonic analysis of jazz repertoire and the development of fundamental keyboard skills will also be addressed. A grade of C or better is required in this course in order to advance.
