MUTH 350 Improvisation for Music Therapy

This course will explore extemporaneous and spontaneous music making using vocal and instrumental improvisation techniques to facilitate expression and communication through music. Students will create melodic and rhythmic improvisation as well as improvised harmonization in a variety of settings using groups and individuals. Students will also learn relationship-building, group leadership skills, leading group singing, playing accompanying instruments, and developing effective delivery skills.  Pre-requisite MUS 111, MUS 112, MUS 160 or MUS 360, and MUS 116 or MUS 212.
