MUS 344 Acoustics and Recording Techniques
Three hours per week. Prerequisite MUS 144 and MUS 324. Students learn recording studio signal flow and operations using the Neve Genesys console and outboard gear. The course teaches advanced mixing techniques and mastering of musical compositions. Students learn recording and mixing audio for video, automated dialog replacement (ADR), mixing in 5.1 surround sound, and live recording techniques. Students learn to produce a recording project from concept to completion. Continued field work in performances spaces conducting live performances including but not limited to Terry Concert Hall, Swisher Theater, the Black Box Theater, and the Strom Amphitheater.
