A practical course for teaching English tospeakers of other languages. The syllabus includesan introduction to general linguistics with stresson those aspects of various linguistic schoolsapplicable to language teaching; a discussion oflanguage theory and teaching methodology(including practical exercises in the use of thedirect method and audio-lingual techniques); andinstruction in the use of comparative techniquesin the teaching of sounds, word structure andsentence structure.
