PSYC 250 The Power of Difference: Conversations on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The course examines several dimensions of diversity, equity, and inclusivity within the context of the United States. The course is divided into three major units. During the first
unit, students will learn about the foundation of social differences including understanding the roots of power, privilege and oppression. The second unit explores the social consequences of
individual and intersectional difference with potential topics such as racism, sexism, and transphobia. Finally, the course ends with a unit on social action and engagement with a goal of
increasing inclusion and equity within society. This course is required for the DEI minor and certificate.
