MUS 250 Music Appreciation World Music
World Music is an introduction to the diverse musical traditions of the global community. In this course music will be viewed from a cultural perspective that illustrates the important role of music as a means of expression grounded in religious, political, social, and cultural identity of non-western cultures. Course work includes hands-on music making in the traditions of Africa, Brazil, Cuba, and Bali. Other assignments will include listening to music from non-western cultures, and some reflective writing. Offered in the Spring.
